Schneider Electric to Set Up New Manufacturing Facility in Tamil Nadu to Boost IT Business in India

Tamil Nadu: Schneider Electric has announced plans to establish a new manufacturing facility dedicated to its IT business at Horizon Industrial Park, Hosur, near Shoolagiri in Tamil Nadu.

The move is part of the company’s strategic expansion in India and a step toward enhancing domestic manufacturing capabilities aligned with the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.

Facility to Span 500,000 Sq. Ft

The upcoming facility will cover an area of 500,000 square feet and is positioned strategically along the Bangalore–Chennai National Highway. This location ensures seamless connectivity to both Bengaluru and Chennai markets, improving distribution and operational efficiency. The facility will focus on manufacturing and trading Battery Management Products (BMS) such as Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, Power Distribution Units (PDU), cooling products, and other electronic accessories.

Development in Two Phases

The construction will be executed in two phases in collaboration with Horizon Industrial Parks, a leading provider of integrated logistics and industrial infrastructure backed by Blackstone Real Estate funds. The first phase will include a dust-free facility, modern office spaces, and significant tenant improvements. These improvements feature expanded industrial power capacity, advanced fire safety systems, and optimized workspace layouts designed for an initial workforce of 1,500, covering both direct and indirect employment.

The second phase will deliver a high-spec, custom-built facility tailored to Schneider Electric’s advanced operational requirements. This phase is expected to be completed within seven months.

Sustainable Design and Smart Infrastructure

The facility will emphasize sustainability and eco-efficiency. Horizon Industrial Park Hosur is pre-certified ‘Platinum’ by the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), and Schneider Electric’s new unit will include several green features. These include rooftop solar panels, roof insulation using glass wool, skylights for natural lighting, and advanced ventilation systems. EV charging stations, HVAC controls, and smart lighting sensors will also be integrated as part of the building’s management system (BMS). Solar rooftop installations are planned in the next phase to enhance thermal efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.

Strengthening India’s Manufacturing Landscape

Schneider Electric stated that this collaboration underlines their commitment to operational excellence, sustainability, and efficiency. The investment in the Hosur facility is intended to empower Indian industries, improve operational output, and further entrench the company’s long-term footprint in India’s fast-growing manufacturing ecosystem.

Blackstone’s representative, Urvish Rambhia, highlighted their focus on providing world-class warehousing solutions to global and domestic corporations expanding in India.
