New Delhi: Diageo plc stated that current CEO Debra Crew has resigned from her role as a board director, effective immediately. In a formal announcement issued on 18 July, the corporation stated that the decision was reached by mutual consent.
While a formal search is underway, Diageo has named Chief Financial Officer Nik Jhangiani as temporary CEO to maintain leadership continuity. The corporation acknowledged that both internal and external candidates will be considered in the hunt. The purpose of his temporary appointment is to offer stability while the Board goes through its official search for a new CEO.
Since June 2023, Crew has been the CEO. After initially joining Diageo in 2019 as a non-executive director, she progressed into executive positions, first as president of Diageo North America, then as group chief operating officer and finally as CEO.
Additional information about the Crew’s reasons for leaving and the anticipated timeframe for selecting a permanent replacement was not provided by the company.
