Month-Old Employee Quits Minutes After Salary, HR Reacts

Priyavarshini M, a human resources specialist, described an unusual resignation occurrence that occurred minutes after an employee’s salary was received on social media, sparking a conversation about workplace ethics.

The employee, who had only been with the company for a month, received their salary at 10:00 am and sent an email announcing their resignation at 10.05 am, according to Priyavarshini’s LinkedIn post.

In her post, she raised a string of pointed questions: “If you never planned to stay, why take the job in the first place? Why go through the entire hiring process? Why stay quiet during onboarding or training?”

She contended that quitting right after payday showed “a lack of intent, maturity, and accountability,” cautioning that such actions send “the wrong message” to both colleagues and employers.

The post quickly gained momentum online, sparking a wider discussion on professional ethics, employee rights, and corporate responsibility.

While some supported her stance, others sharply criticised the decision to share the episode publicly. One commenter remarked: “The person is not wrong. But being in HR, you should not post such matters on social media. It clearly shows your immaturity, please.”
