Google to Invest Rs 88,000 Crore in Andhra Pradesh for Data Centres, AI Projects

Amaravati: Google will invest Rs 88,000 crore in Andhra Pradesh over the next three years to establish advanced data centres and Artificial Intelligence (AI) projects in Visakhapatnam. The announcement was made by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who said the investment aims to strengthen the state’s digital infrastructure and create new opportunities in the technology sector.

The initiative is part of the state government’s push to build Andhra Pradesh as a technology-driven economy and attract global investments in cloud computing and AI. The proposed data centres are expected to operate on green energy, aligning with India’s broader goal of sustainable digital growth. Officials said the project will create high-skilled jobs and enhance digital connectivity, particularly in the southern region.

Visakhapatnam’s coastal location and access to renewable energy make it a strategic choice for setting up large-scale data operations. Industry experts suggest that Google’s investment reflects growing global confidence in India’s digital transformation and the government’s efforts to build a strong AI and data ecosystem.

Analysts believe this development could help India expand its domestic digital capabilities, reduce reliance on foreign data infrastructure, and support innovation across sectors such as education, healthcare, and governance. Detailed project timelines and partnership structures are expected to be announced soon.

The move positions Andhra Pradesh as an emerging hub for next-generation digital infrastructure, underscoring the state’s growing importance in India’s evolving technology landscape.
