Google Cloud India, TechBharat Research Foundation Set Up AI Centre for Public Good in Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam: TechBharat Research Foundation has partnered with Google Cloud India to establish an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Public Good in Visakhapatnam. The initiative aims to apply AI technologies to improve public governance, service delivery, and data-driven decision-making across sectors.

An initiative of Hyderabad-based ParadigmIT and Quantela, TechBharat Research Foundation focuses on leveraging AI for governance and sustainability. The partnership aligns with India’s broader vision for responsible and inclusive AI adoption in the public sector.

Google Cloud India will provide the technological backbone for the CoE, offering infrastructure, cloud credits, and access to its Gemini APIs to support scalable experimentation. The collaboration also includes mentorship from Google’s AI experts and go-to-market assistance to bring validated solutions to government departments in India and developing countries.

According to Ashish Wattal, Director, Public Sector at Google Cloud India, the partnership aims to develop practical, scalable solutions that address governance challenges and strengthen citizen services. Sridhar Gadhi, Founder of the TechBharat Research Foundation, noted that the collaboration is focused on creating systems that enhance transparency and efficiency in public service delivery.

The CoE’s first initiative, the TechBharat AI Fellowship, will be a 120-day national programme to train young innovators in building AI-based solutions for public sector challenges.

By combining research, capacity building, and technology deployment, the partnership seeks to make Visakhapatnam a hub for developing applied AI models for governance and sustainable development.
