Adani, Embraer Sign MoU to Establish Regional Transport Aircraft Ecosystem in India

New Delhi: Adani Defence & Aerospace and Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop an aircraft manufacturing and aviation services ecosystem in India.

The agreement aims to strengthen India’s domestic aerospace capabilities and support the country’s rapidly growing aviation market.

Focus on Commercial Aircraft and Assembly Line

Under the MoU, the two companies will examine opportunities for collaboration in commercial aircraft manufacturing, including the potential establishment of a final assembly line in India. The partnership aims to cater especially to India’s increasing demand for regional air connectivity, an area where Embraer has strong global expertise.

Expanding Across the Aviation Value Chain

Beyond manufacturing, the collaboration will explore prospects across the wider aviation value chain. This includes maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services, supply chain development, pilot and technical training, and other aviation support services. Any aircraft production in India would be followed by a phased localisation plan, gradually increasing the share of indigenous components, systems, and services.

Combining Global Expertise with Local Capabilities

Embraer is a globally recognised manufacturer of regional aircraft operated by airlines across multiple continents. Adani Defence & Aerospace, meanwhile, has been steadily expanding its presence in defence manufacturing, aviation and airport infrastructure in India. Together, the companies aim to combine advanced engineering expertise with local industrial capabilities to build a sustainable and competitive aerospace manufacturing base.

Government Support and Next Steps

The MoU was signed in New Delhi in the presence of Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu, underscoring the government’s emphasis on domestic manufacturing and globally integrated supply chains. While details such as investment size, production timelines, and location are yet to be finalised, both companies said further assessments will determine the next steps of the partnership.
