Bengaluru, 2 April, (CXO Media): Wipro has appointed Nagendra P Bandaru as Chief Executive Officer of its AI Native Business and Platforms Unit.
The move comes as IT services companies increase investments in artificial intelligence-led platforms to support enterprise automation and digital transformation. He will lead the newly structured unit responsible for building AI-native platforms and expanding the company’s capabilities in automation, cloud, cybersecurity, and enterprise AI adoption across global clients.
Bandaru has over three decades of experience in the IT services sector and has been associated with Wipro for nearly 12 years. During his tenure, he served as President of Technology Services and was also a member of the company’s Executive Board. In these roles, he managed large-scale technology portfolios covering infrastructure, cloud services, cybersecurity, and digital operations, areas that remain central to enterprise technology spending.
Before joining Wipro, he held leadership roles at Tata Consultancy Services, where he worked across major client segments, including financial services and telecommunications. Industry analysts note that experience across regulated sectors such as banking and telecom has become increasingly relevant as organizations adopt AI systems that require strong data governance and security oversight.
Wipro’s decision to create a dedicated AI Native Business and Platforms Unit reflects a broader shift within the IT services industry, where companies are restructuring delivery models to integrate AI into core offerings rather than treating it as an add-on capability. Global demand for AI-driven automation tools, platform-based services, and autonomous systems has grown as enterprises seek to reduce operational costs and improve efficiency.
The leadership change also signals Wipro’s focus on expanding platform-led service models, which industry observers see as a key growth area amid slowing growth in traditional IT outsourcing segments. Analysts say companies that successfully scale reusable AI platforms and standardized solutions are likely to gain a competitive advantage in enterprise transformation programs over the next several years.
