Google Enhances NotebookLM with AI-Generated Flashcards and Deeper Google Drive Integration

Google to Invest Rs 88,000 Crore in Andhra Pradesh for Data Centres, AI Projects

New Delhi: Google is set to introduce AI-generated flashcards in NotebookLM, its notetaking and research assistant. The feature, first reported by Testing Catalog and confirmed by the NotebookLM team, will automatically convert user-provided content into quiz-like study material. By analyzing notes and documents, the tool will create concise prompts designed to help users review and recall information more effectively. The flashcards will appear in the Studio Panel, alongside existing features such as Audio and Video Overviews.

In addition to flashcards, NotebookLM will expand its integration with Google Drive, allowing users to search across Docs, Slides, and other files directly within the platform. This move aims to streamline content management and enable easier access to AI-driven insights from across Google Workspace.

The update signals Google’s effort to position NotebookLM as more than a basic note-taking tool, instead developing it into a broader productivity and learning platform. While details on customization and user controls for the flashcards have not yet been released, the feature is expected to appeal to students preparing for exams as well as professionals seeking quick knowledge reinforcement.

Industry observers view these developments as part of Google’s wider strategy to embed AI into everyday productivity and study tools, strengthening its role in the growing market for AI-assisted learning solutions. Although a release timeline has not been provided, the updates mark a step toward integrating study-oriented features and deeper file connectivity within Google’s ecosystem.
