New Delhi, Apr 24, (CXO Media): Nitin Bawankule has joined OpenAI as Head of Enterprise Sales for India, with the role set to take effect in mid-May 2026. The appointment comes as global AI companies expand local enterprise teams to tap the rising demand for large-scale AI deployments in the Indian market.
In his new role, he will oversee enterprise sales strategy in India, working with businesses that are shifting from pilot projects to broader AI deployment across operations. Companies across sectors, including financial services, retail, and technology, have begun investing more heavily in automation and generative AI tools, increasing demand for enterprise-grade AI solutions.
Before joining OpenAI, Bawankule worked with Amazon Web Services, where he led initiatives aimed at expanding cloud and AI usage among Indian customers. His earlier roles include leadership positions at Disney+ Hotstar, where he contributed to scaling the streaming business, and at Google India, where he worked on enterprise digital transformation initiatives.
His experience across cloud infrastructure, enterprise technology, and digital platforms aligns with the growing need for companies to manage complex AI deployments at scale. The appointment reflects ongoing competition among global technology firms to build strong enterprise sales teams in India, a market increasingly seen as central to long-term AI adoption strategies.
