Uber Adds Hotel Booking and AI Voice Feature to Expand Beyond Ride-Hailing

Uber Adds Hotel Booking and AI Voice Feature to Expand Beyond Ride-Hailing

New Delhi, Apr 30, (CXO Media): Uber is taking a major step beyond ride-hailing by introducing hotel booking and an AI-powered voice booking feature, signalling its ambition to evolve into a full-fledged super app.

The company announced that users can now book accommodations directly within the app, alongside a new conversational AI tool designed to simplify ride bookings.

Uber Hotel Booking Feature: Powered by Expedia Partnership

As part of its expansion into travel services, Uber has partnered with Expedia Group to enable hotel bookings directly inside the app.

The new Hotels tab allows users to:

  • Search destinations and browse over 700,000 hotels
  • Compare prices across listings
  • Filter stays by ratings, amenities, and accessibility

Uber is also enhancing the travel experience with in-app reminders, prompting users to:

  • Schedule rides to and from hotels
  • Order food delivery during their stay

The company plans to expand further by integrating vacation rentals through Vrbo, highlighting its deeper push into the travel booking space.

AI Voice Booking: Uber Introduces Conversational Ride Requests

Uber’s new AI voice booking feature allows users to book rides through natural conversation, making the app more accessible and user-friendly.

This rollout builds on Uber’s broader AI strategy, which already includes:

  • Smart grocery cart assistance
  • Automated menu descriptions on Uber Eats

The move reflects a growing trend in AI-driven mobility services, where voice interfaces are becoming a key differentiator.

Uber One and Subscription Growth

The update also supports Uber’s subscription program, Uber One, which offers:

  • Discounts on hotel bookings
  • Ride credits and exclusive deals

By the end of 2025, Uber reported 46 million global subscribers, showing strong momentum in its recurring revenue strategy.

Super App Strategy and Rising Competition

With these new features, Uber is positioning itself as a serious contender in the super app ecosystem, competing with major travel and booking platforms like:

  • Airbnb
  • Booking Holdings

The expansion reflects a broader industry shift toward all-in-one platforms, combining mobility, travel booking, food delivery, and financial services.

Ride-Hailing Trends 2026: What This Means

Uber’s latest update highlights key ride-hailing trends in 2026, including:

  • Integration of travel and mobility services
  • Growth of AI-powered user experiences
  • Increased competition in the super app market

The success of this strategy will depend on whether Western users adopt the super app model as widely as in Asia. With hotel booking, AI voice capabilities, and deeper travel integrations, Uber is redefining its role beyond ride-hailing. As competition intensifies, its super app ambitions could reshape how users plan and experience travel in one unified platform.
