Meta Partners Gujarat To Launch WhatsApp Citizen Services, AI Pilot For Accessibility

Gujarat, May 27(CXO Media): The Gujarat government has partnered with Meta to introduce AI-led citizen services through WhatsApp and test wearable technology for accessibility. The collaboration, announced on Tuesday, will initially focus on digital governance, AI skilling, and services for visually impaired citizens.
Under Gujarat’s ‘Sugam Digital’ initiative, the state plans to launch a WhatsApp-based chatbot that will allow residents to access key government services through a single platform. The chatbot will support Gujarati and English and offer around 20 citizen services, including grievance support, income and caste certificates, ration card updates, revenue records, and affidavit-related assistance.

The chatbot is expected to reduce dependence on multiple government portals and physical office visits, particularly for rural users. The service will also include voice-based support, aimed at improving accessibility for citizens with limited digital literacy.
The partnership, signed for an initial two-year period, also includes a pilot programme involving Ray-Ban Meta AI glasses to explore how wearable technology can support visually impaired citizens in accessing information and services.

Apart from governance services, Meta and the Gujarat government plan to roll out AI and digital skills training for creators and small businesses. The initiative is aimed at helping local entrepreneurs improve customer engagement, digital marketing, and business operations using AI-powered tools.
