Hindustan Zinc Deploys AI-Based Surveillance for Workplace Safety

Hindustan Zinc uses Detect AI for safer mines. AI/ML tech boosts efficiency 20-30%, cuts manual work 50%, & prevents incidents with real-time alerts.

Udaipur: Hindustan Zinc has deployed the Detect AI camera surveillance system to enhance workplace safety.

The company has integrated AI, ML, computer vision, drone technology, IoT and AR/VR through its Detect AI system. Subsequently, the company has enhanced operational efficiency by 20 to 30 per cent and reduced the need for manual intervention by nearly 50 per cent.

This was implemented across Hindustan Zinc’s mining sites across Rajasthan, including Rampura Agucha, Sindesar Khurd, Rajpura Dariba, Zawar and Kayad.

The computer vision and ML-based safety monitoring system integrate with existing IoT-enabled surveillance infrastructure. Real-time image and video analytics, coupled with deep learning models and edge computing, subsequently detect unsafe industrial practices.

These practices include non-adherence to protective equipment guidelines, unauthorised personnel access and work-at-height protocols.

Detect AI futher categories these non-compliances using predictive analytics. This triggers automated alerts via cloud-based AI inference engines generating data-driven insights.

“The implementation of Detect AI positions us ahead of the industry curve, integrating such innovative solutions for manufacturing excellence,” claims Arun Misra, CEO, Hindustan Zinc.

With seamless API integrations, real-time KPI tracking and intelligent automation, Detect AI claims to have transformed industrial safety by reducing incidents, enhancing compliance and enabling proactive risk mitigation.
