Vijayapura: Reliance Group is set to boost its presence in India’s beverage market with a Rs 1,622 crore investment in a Campa Cola bottling facility in Vijayapura, Karnataka.

Approved by the state government, the project will come up in the Mulawada Industrial Area Phase 2, spread across 100 acres allocated by the Karnataka Industrial Areas Development Board (KIADB).

Reviving a popular brand

This investment marks a key step in Reliance’s strategy to revive and expand the Campa Cola brand. With demand for homegrown beverage brands rising, the company aims to position Campa Cola as a strong contender in India’s cold drink segment. The project reflects Reliance’s growing focus on the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector and its confidence in Karnataka’s industry-friendly policies.

Local economic impact

Beyond beverage production, the project is expected to:

  • Create 1,200 direct jobs
  • Spur growth in allied sectors such as packaging, logistics, and retail
  • Strengthen the industrial profile of the Vijayapura district

Government support and regional development

Karnataka’s Large and Medium Industries Minister, MB Patil, who also oversees Vijayapura district, highlighted the strategic significance of the project during a recent review meeting. He noted that such investments are key to boosting the region’s economy and employment landscape.

Vijayapura is fast emerging as an investment destination. The district has attracted proposals worth Rs 17,000 crore across sectors like renewable energy, food processing, textiles, and FMCG. Among these, Reliance’s Campa Cola plant stands out as one of the largest and most impactful projects, reinforcing the group’s role in shaping Karnataka’s industrial future.
