New Delhi: Tinder has launched Face Check in India, an industry-first feature, aimed at eliminating fake profiles and enhancing trust among users.
Launched during the cybersecurity awareness month, the tool requires new members to complete a quick video selfie, which is compared to their profile images.
Verified users receive a badge upon verification, ensuring matches are with the real people, not bots or impersonators.
“Face Check arrives at a time when online authenticity has never been more important,” said Yoel Roth, Senior Vice President of Trust & Safety at Match Group.
The feature strengthens Tinder’s ongoing efforts to combat scammers and enhance user confidence in India.
According to Tinder’s Modern Dating Report, Indian users prioritise authenticity and safety, with over one in three considering profile verification a key factor in evaluating potential matches. Many also adopt safety measures such as meeting in public spaces, informing friends or family, and video calling before in-person meetings.
Face Check is now rolling out to new users in India, complementing over 20 safety features already introduced, including ID verification, reporting enhancements and user warnings. These initiatives aim to make Tinder a more secure and authentic platform for online dating in the country.
