Bengaluru, 7 Apr, (CXO Media): Razorpay has integrated its payment gateway with OpenAI’s Codex platform to enable developers to add payment features while building applications.
The integration allows developers using Codex, an AI-powered coding tool, to connect Razorpay’s payment system, including UPI and other digital payment methods, directly into their apps during development. This reduces the need for separate payment setup processes that typically require additional coding and configuration.
The development comes amid continued growth in India’s digital payments ecosystem, where UPI transactions have expanded rapidly in recent years. As AI-assisted coding tools gain wider adoption, embedding payment functionality within development platforms is becoming increasingly important for developers aiming to commercialise software products.
With this integration, Codex can generate applications that include payment collection features powered by Razorpay. The system automatically sets up checkout flows and payment handling functions, potentially lowering entry barriers for startups, student developers, and independent builders launching paid digital services.
Razorpay has also introduced a ChatGPT-based interface that allows businesses to manage payment-related operations such as tracking settlements, verifying refunds, and reconciling transactions through conversational prompts.
The move is part of a broader trend toward integrating financial services directly into software development tools, as AI continues to reshape how digital products are built and monetised.
