Yatra Expands Travel And Expense Automation With Google Cloud AI

Gurugram, 8 Apr, (CXO Media): Yatra has integrated Google Cloud’s artificial intelligence tools into its travel and expense platforms to expand automation capabilities.

AI Deployment Across Travel Booking Platforms

The collaboration involves the use of Google Cloud’s Gemini models through Vertex AI to support automated travel booking and customer interaction processes. Yatra said it has deployed a set of AI-powered tools under its DIYA platform to handle customer queries, assist with itinerary planning, and execute booking-related tasks.

The system is designed to interpret user requests and perform multiple actions such as searching for flights, managing bookings, and processing cancellations. These tasks are executed by connecting directly to Yatra’s internal systems through APIs, enabling real-time responses and workflow completion.

The platform also uses Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) methods to connect AI responses with Yatra’s internal travel databases and policy documents. This approach allows the system to generate responses based on verified internal information rather than relying only on general language models.

Expansion Of Expense Management Automation

The collaboration also includes updates to Yatra’s RECAP expense management platform. The company is introducing optical character recognition (OCR) and vision-based analytics capabilities to automate the processing of travel receipts.

With these updates, users can upload receipt images that are automatically scanned to extract key information such as expense amount and category. The system also supports voice-based inputs for logging expenses, reducing manual entry requirements for corporate users.

Companies managing large employee travel volumes have been adopting automated expense systems to improve reporting accuracy and reduce administrative workload. The integration of OCR and AI tools into expense workflows reflects ongoing efforts to digitise travel expense processes.

Cloud Migration And Enterprise Data Handling

As part of the agreement, Yatra has migrated several of its core workloads to Google Cloud infrastructure. The migration is intended to support large-scale data processing and enable faster deployment of AI-driven services across its platforms.

Company officials said the implementation includes security controls designed to protect enterprise customer data stored on the platform. The firms also stated that proprietary enterprise data handled through the system will remain protected within controlled cloud environments.

The move signals a continued shift among travel technology providers toward cloud-based systems and AI-enabled tools aimed at automating booking operations and corporate expense management functions.
