Meta claims the new feature works differently from regular AI chat tools. According to the company, conversations in Incognito Chat with Meta AI will not be used to train AI models, and messages will be processed through Private Processing technology, which Meta says prevents even the company from reading the chats. The system reportedly uses Trusted Execution Environments (TEE) to process requests securely when on-device AI handling is not possible. The move appears to address growing user concerns around how AI companies collect and store personal data.
WhatsApp To Get Private AI Chats: Meta Says Even It Cannot Read Conversations
New Delhi, May 14(CXO Media): Meta is bringing a new private AI chat feature to WhatsApp. The update, called Incognito Chat with Meta AI, is aimed at users who want to ask personal questions without worrying about their conversations being stored or accessed. Meta says users will be able to discuss sensitive topics — including health, finances, work issues, and personal concerns in a temporary private chat that disappears by default.
Meta also announced an upcoming Side Chat feature that will allow users to privately ask Meta AI for contextual help while chatting with others, without leaving the conversation. The company is expected to roll out both features on WhatsApp and the Meta AI app in the coming months.
