Suzlon Energy Bags 195 MW Order, But Bigger Milestone May Surprise Investors

Bijapur, May 22(CXO Media): Suzlon Energy has secured a 195 MW wind energy order from Sunsure Energy, adding to its growing order pipeline in Karnataka and pushing a key company milestone closer.

The company said it will supply and install 65 wind turbine generators (WTGs) for the project in Karnataka’s Bijapur district. The order will be executed using Suzlon’s S144 turbines, each with a rated capacity of 3 MW. With the latest deal, the company said cumulative orders for its 3 MW platform have now approached 9 GW.

The latest project also takes Suzlon’s order book in Karnataka beyond 2 GW, making the state one of its largest markets for wind projects. The company has been expanding its presence in the commercial and industrial (C&I) renewable energy segment, where businesses are increasingly adopting wind energy for round-the-clock power needs.
Suzlon’s partnership with Sunsure Energy is also nearing 300 MW, reflecting growing demand for renewable energy projects from independent power producers.

Sunsure Energy is currently developing renewable energy projects across multiple states, including Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan and Karnataka, with a target of reaching 10 GW operational capacity by 2030.
Suzlon Energy shares traded marginally higher at Rs 53.1 on Friday following the announcement, while the stock has remained largely flat over the last month and on a year-to-date basis.
