Adani Green Commissions 3.37 GWh Battery Project At Khavda

Gujarat, May 26(CXO Media): Adani Green Energy Ltd (AGEL) has commissioned a 3.37 gigawatt-hour (GWh) battery energy storage system at Khavda in Gujarat, adding a major energy storage asset to India’s renewable power network.

The project, located at AGEL’s Khavda renewable energy site, is among the largest single-location battery storage deployments globally outside China. The company said the installation was completed within ten months, with 1.37 GWh of capacity added in March 2026, taking the total operational battery storage capacity at the site to 3.37 GWh.

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are becoming increasingly important as India expands solar and wind energy capacity. Such systems help balance electricity supply, store surplus renewable power, and support grid stability during peak demand periods.

According to AGEL, the Khavda system uses lithium-ion battery technology integrated with energy management systems to improve operational efficiency and support round-the-clock clean power supply. The company estimates the system can store enough electricity to support nearly one million homes for a day.
