Confluent Expands Tableflow with Apache Iceberg Support, Early Access for Delta Lake

Bengaluru: Confluent has expanded Tableflow’s capabilities, making support for Apache Iceberg generally available while opening an early access program for Delta Lake through an extended partnership with Databricks. The company aims to improve real-time data access for analytics and artificial intelligence (AI) applications.

Real-Time Data for AI and Analytics

Tableflow allows businesses to access streaming data in open table formats, ensuring real-time insights for AI-driven applications. The platform integrates operational data with analytical systems, reducing dependency on batch processing, which often results in outdated or inaccurate insights.

By supporting Apache Iceberg, Tableflow now enables direct integration with major data warehouses and analytics engines. It also automates table maintenance tasks, such as compaction, to reduce the burden on data engineers.

Additionally, the early access program for Delta Lake, an open storage format developed by Databricks, aims to provide organizations with a consistent real-time data view across operational and analytical systems.

Industry Shift Toward AI-Ready Infrastructure

According to a 2025 IDC report, 70% of IT teams are expected to revamp their data infrastructure by 2027 after multiple AI project failures. Many organizations struggle with data silos and redundant storage, making it difficult for AI models to process up-to-date business information effectively.

Brady Perry, Co-founder at Busie, noted that companies using Tableflow could streamline data ingestion and reduce complexity by integrating real-time Kafka data with Apache Iceberg tables.

New Features and Enterprise Adoption

Confluent has also introduced Bring Your Own Storage, allowing businesses to store Iceberg or Delta tables on their preferred storage buckets, improving data ownership and compliance. Further, direct integrations with AWS Glue Data Catalog and Snowflake Open Catalog enhance governance and accessibility, allowing AI and analytics tools to pull real-time data seamlessly. The company has strengthened enterprise adoption through partnerships with global system integrators, including Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), GoodLabs Studio, Onibex, and Psyncopate.
