Hyderabad: The US retail behemoth Costco Wholesale Corp. reportedly intends to open its first technology centre in India. The proposed Global Capability Centre (GCC) will be located in Hyderabad, with an initial headcount of around 1,000 professionals and is expected to scale further.
Costco’s arrival comes after a wave of Fortune 500 businesses set up their operational and digital centres in Hyderabad in 2025.
According to an industry analyst, “Costco’s foray into the Indian GCC landscape is a powerful endorsement of Hyderabad’s evolving reputation as a global retail and technology powerhouse.”
More GCC companies with a retail focus are anticipated to enter the Indian market as a result of Costco’s presence. Hyderabad provides the perfect location for backend operations and innovation labs as more international retail brands seek to improve customer analytics, digitise supply chains and create omnichannel experiences.
