TCS Responds to Onboarding Delays After 600 Complaints: ‘Every Offer Stands’

New Delhi: Despite several allegations that experienced hires across cities have faced extended delays in their joining dates, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has reaffirmed its commitment to onboarding all professionals who have received employment offers.

In a statement shared exclusively with People Matters, a TCS spokesperson said:

“We can confirm that, as always, TCS is committed to honouring all offers we have made, whether it is to freshers or experienced professionals. Everyone who has received an offer from TCS will be onboarded.”

“The joining dates are decided as per business demand and in some cases, they do get adjusted to meet our business needs. We remain in continuous touch with all candidates in these cases and look forward to them joining our company soon.”

The clarification comes as professionals who claim to have resigned from their prior positions to join TCS, citing official offer letters and specific start dates, are becoming increasingly concerned. Many of these professionals were hired for lateral positions in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Kolkata, Mumbai and Delhi. Their experience ranged from two to eighteen years.

Some applicants claim that because their names were not on the onboarding list, they were refused admission to TCS’s facilities on the day they were supposed to start working there. Others claim that after getting the first confirmation, the company’s HR personnel stopped communicating for a long time.

The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES) raised awareness of the problem and requested government action in a representation sent to the Union Labour and Employment Ministry. Hundreds of mid- to senior-level professionals have been impacted by the delays, the organisation claims and many of them had already committed financially and personally based on their anticipated onboarding.

To promote the health of those impacted, NITES advised the ministry to ask TCS for a formal, time-bound onboarding strategy, provide reimbursement for the delay, and expand employee assistance programs.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment had not yet made a public statement in response to the NITES petition as of 23 July. Regarding the onboarding delays, no official court filings or legal notices have been verified.

While it may be required to modify onboarding timetables, industry observers point out that regular communication can reduce candidate anxiety and reputational damage. Although deadlines are still unclear, TCS’s pledge of commitment provides some consolation to the hundreds of experts who are waiting for information.
