New Delhi: Zoom unveiled AI Companion 3.0 at its annual Zoomtopia 2025 conference, adding new artificial intelligence tools aimed at automating tasks and improving workplace collaboration. The update builds on the company’s earlier AI features and signals its growing emphasis on embedding agentic AI into business workflows.
The new version includes photo-realistic AI avatars designed for flexible meeting participation and advanced note-taking functions that extend beyond Zoom to third-party platforms and even in-person discussions. A notable addition is the option for businesses to create custom AI agents through an add-on feature, allowing teams to design solutions suited to specific workflows. Other updates include live translation, AI-generated summaries and presentation clips, and enhanced scheduling tools that use proactive workflows to keep meetings organized.
Smita Hashim, Chief Product Officer at Zoom, said the goal is to help users extract insights from conversations and manage tasks more effectively across different environments, whether on Zoom Workplace or integrated applications.
The move comes at a time when enterprise software providers are competing to expand the role of generative and agentic AI in workplace settings. Platforms such as Microsoft Teams and Google Workspace have already integrated AI assistants, and Zoom’s latest release positions it to remain competitive in this evolving landscape.
By expanding AI Companion’s capabilities, Zoom is seeking to respond to growing demand from businesses for tools that reduce administrative work and improve productivity. The company’s approach reflects a wider industry trend where AI is increasingly embedded not as a separate tool but as a core layer of workplace operations.
