Chennai: Ola Electric has launched Ola Shakti, a residential battery energy storage system (BESS), marking its entry into India’s home energy storage segment. CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, the product has been rolled out from the company’s gigafactory in Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu.
Powered by Ola’s indigenous 4680 Bharat Cells, Ola Shakti is being positioned as India’s first residential BESS that is fully designed, engineered and manufactured domestically. The company said the system is built as a portable, on-demand energy solution for households, farms and small businesses.
Ola Shakti offers automotive-grade safety, high efficiency and zero running and maintenance costs. It features instant, zero-millisecond power changeover and operates across a wide input voltage range of 200V to 240V to safeguard appliances against fluctuations. The system is also spill-proof.
Users can monitor real-time battery status, energy flow and consumption patterns through a mobile app. Ola Shakti is available in four configurations, with charging times as low as two hours and backup power of up to 1.5 hours at full load.
