Hyderabad: Sanofi Healthcare has expanded its Global Capability Centre (GCC) in Hyderabad, strengthening the city’s position in global pharmaceutical services and innovation.
The expansion adds over 2.7 lakh square metres of workspace at Sanofi Healthcare India Pvt Ltd’s campus in Hitech City, raising employee capacity to around 4,500 from the earlier projection of 2,600.
The company said the move makes the Hyderabad centre one of its largest global talent hubs and places it among the top three pharma GCCs in India by scale and scope. The expanded campus was inaugurated by Telangana IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu along with senior company executives.
From Medical Services to Strategic Hub
Set up in 2019, the Hyderabad GCC initially focused on medical services. It now supports global operations across research and development, artificial intelligence, digital innovation, data analytics, medical affairs, commercial functions, finance, procurement, and people services.
Sanofi said its GCCs function as strategic hubs that manage end-to-end global processes and deliver enterprise-scale solutions. The Hyderabad centre is a key part of the company’s shift towards an R&D-driven, AI-powered biopharma model.
A Broader Industry Shift
The expansion aligns with a wider trend in India’s pharmaceutical GCC ecosystem, where centres are moving beyond support roles to handle high-value and strategic work. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy said the development highlights the state’s growing role as a life sciences innovation hub and contributes to high-skilled employment.
Sanofi has operated in India for nearly seven decades, with activities spanning vaccines, treatments, clinical trials and manufacturing, including its Goa facility that supplies products to over 60 countries.
