Bengaluru, Apr 14, (CXO Media): Biocon has appointed Karthik SM as Head HR for India, Malaysia and Emerging Markets. The move expands his responsibilities across multiple geographies as the company continues to scale operations in regional and global markets.
In his new role at Biocon, Karthik SM will oversee human resource strategy and operations across India, Malaysia, and other emerging markets. His responsibilities will include managing workforce planning, talent deployment, and employee engagement initiatives across diverse regional teams.
The appointment reflects the growing need among pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to strengthen HR leadership structures as they expand manufacturing, research, and commercial operations across borders. Managing talent across multiple geographies has become a critical function as companies deal with regulatory requirements, workforce mobility, and specialised skill demands.
Before taking on this expanded role, Karthik SM worked with Biocon Biologics, where he handled leadership responsibilities in global HR functions. His previous roles included serving as HR Head for Global Operations and Global Head of Talent Acquisition, where he was involved in large-scale hiring and workforce management initiatives.
Prior to his tenure within the Biocon group, he held senior HR roles at IQVIA and Accenture. These roles focused on talent strategy and organisational transformation across large teams, providing experience in managing workforce needs across global markets.
