MakeMyTrip Expands Global Reach with New Platform for Booking Overseas Activities

MakeMyTrip Partners with Google Cloud to Build AI-Powered Travel Planning Platform

New Delhi: MakeMyTrip has launched a global Tours and Attractions booking platform aimed at simplifying how Indian travellers plan and book activities overseas. With access to over 200,000 experiences in 1,100 cities across 130 countries, the platform is part of the company’s broader push to integrate global travel experiences into a single, accessible service.

The company said the initiative was designed to tackle recurring issues faced by Indian outbound tourists, chief among them, fragmented information sources, foreign currency complications, and lack of centralized planning tools for local activities abroad.

“Experiences account for a significant share of spending when Indians travel overseas, yet discovering and booking them remains one of the most fragmented aspects of the journey,” said Rajesh Magow, Co-founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip. He added that the aim is to streamline the process just like the company’s existing services for flights, hotels, and local transport.

The new feature enables travellers to explore and pre-book both popular and niche activities ranging from guided city walks and museum entries to helicopter rides and cultural demonstrations. Examples include visits to Disneyland Paris, desert safaris in Dubai, and sumo wrestling showcases in Tokyo.

MakeMyTrip has partnered with several international experience providers to build the offering. All bookings are priced in Indian Rupees and are integrated into the platform’s existing ‘MyTrips’ section for easier itinerary management.

The move reflects a growing trend in the travel sector where customer demand is shifting beyond transportation and lodging towards more immersive experiences. According to various industry estimates, the global travel experience market is expected to grow significantly over the next five years, driven by demand from emerging markets, including India.

This launch positions MakeMyTrip to compete more directly with global platforms already operating in the tours and activities space while providing Indian users with a tailored, currency-compatible option for international planning.
