New Delhi, Apr 23, (CXO Media): American Express has tied up with Zomato’s District platform to push more credit card spending during weekdays.
Midweek Dining Push
Under the initiative called “Amex Wednesdays”, eligible American Express cardholders will get 25% savings on dining bills every Wednesday through 2026. The offer is capped at Rs 5,000 per transaction and Rs 10,000 per card per month. Customers can access the benefit on the Zomato or District app by applying a specific offer code while paying with eligible cards.
The offer will be available across more than 40 cities and over 40,000 restaurants in India. The wide network indicates a scale-focused approach to influence everyday spending behaviour rather than limiting benefits to select premium outlets.
Focus On Card Usage Patterns
Credit card issuers have increasingly targeted dining as a key category to drive transaction volumes. Weekend spending typically dominates this segment, leading companies to design weekday incentives to improve card usage frequency and maintain consistent transaction flow across the week.
The partnership reflects a broader shift in urban consumption patterns, where weekday dining has grown alongside hybrid work schedules and rising use of app-based payments. Banks and card networks have been expanding collaborations with digital platforms to capture routine discretionary spending and strengthen customer engagement beyond traditional peak periods.
