Greater Noida: Japanese automobile giant Honda Motor Company has appointed Takashi Nakajima as the new President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL), effective April 1, 2025. This leadership change is part of Honda’s annual management transitions.

Nakajima, who joined Honda in 1994, brings over 30 years of experience to the role. He has held leadership positions in Japan, China, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Russia, specializing in business planning, product planning, marketing, and sales promotion. Since 2021, he has been serving as the President of Honda Motor Russia, overseeing key market strategies. He was also responsible for product planning, marketing, and corporate communication for Honda’s automobile business in Japan.

Nakajima will succeed Takuya Tsumura, who is returning to Honda’s headquarters in Japan after completing a three-year tenure in India. Under Tsumura’s leadership, HCIL strengthened its premium brand image, introduced customer-focused initiatives, and drove profitable growth. He played a pivotal role in launching key models, including India’s first mainstream hybrid, the Honda City e:HEV, the global SUV Honda Elevate, and the third-generation Amaze.

With Nakajima at the helm, HCIL aims to build on its strong market presence and continue expanding its product portfolio and customer engagement initiatives in India’s evolving automobile industry.
