Mumbai: Abbott India has announced the reappointment of Kartik Rajendran as its Managing Director for a period of five years, effective June 14, 2025. This marks a strategic return for Kartik, who previously served in the role from February 2022 to November 2023, during which he led the company’s specialty business and significantly expanded its reach across key therapeutic areas.
Kartik returns to India from Bangkok, where he most recently served as Regional Director for Abbott’s Southeast Asia Cluster, overseeing operations in Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Myanmar. With over 20 years of experience spanning healthcare, consulting, and marine operations, his leadership has consistently focused on innovation, access, and organizational growth.
During his earlier stint as MD of Abbott India, Kartik managed a team of over 2,700 employees and a portfolio of more than 500 products, covering chronic NCDs, critical care, and super specialties. Prior to that, he held several leadership roles at Abbott, including India Head for New Products, R&D, and Innovation Strategy, Head of India Hospital Business, and Director of Chronic Care Therapies, where he oversaw a $200 million portfolio and 2,000+ team members.
Before joining Abbott in 2016, Kartik worked as an Associate Partner at McKinsey & Company, advising clients in the BFSI sector. He began his career in the merchant navy, serving as a Chief Officer and later as a Marine Consultant.
