New Delhi: Venu Nuguri was named Managing Director of Hitachi India, effective from 2 June. He will remain in his positions as Region Head of South Asia at Hitachi Energy and Managing Director and CEO of Hitachi Energy India.
This change in leadership comes after Bharat Kaushal was promoted to Executive Chairman of Hitachi India in April 2025. With an emphasis on digital transformation and the growth of the Lumada business platform, Nuguri will lead Hitachi India’s strategic efforts in line with the Hitachi Group’s worldwide vision, Inspire 2027.
Nuguri has been leading Hitachi Energy in India since its formation in 2019, overseeing its listing on both Indian stock exchanges. Under his leadership, the team has executed several nation-building projects that make India’s energy system more sustainable, flexible and secure. These include the landmark Raigarh-Pugalur bidirectional HVDC link that can transfer 6GW of energy and partnering in Indian Railways’ journey to net-zero.
ESG being central to his management style, Nuguri has initiated projects in smart mobility with industry and academia, and collaborated with leading institutes. Social projects under his watch have extended to afforestation, healthcare and providing support to several hundred women in engineering.
Nuguri has a degree in Electrical Engineering from the NIT Warangal, and has also been accredited by the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad and the International Institute of Management Development, Switzerland.
