New Delhi: Character.AI has named Karandeep Anand as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Anand, who previously served as a board advisor for nine months, steps into the role with a focus on expanding the platform’s capabilities and deepening its engagement with a growing global user base.
In his prior role, Anand played a significant part in shaping the company’s product direction and user experience. With a leadership track record that includes roles as President at Brex, Vice President and Head of Business Products at Meta and senior positions at Microsoft, Anand brings deep expertise in scaling consumer technologies.
Character.AI stated that Anand’s primary mandate will be to drive long-term growth, harnessing the platform’s advanced multimodal AI technology to influence the broader entertainment ecosystem.
Alongside this leadership transition, the company also announced that Dominic Perella will assume the role of Chief Legal Officer and SVP of Global Affairs, strengthening the executive team for the next phase of expansion.
In a note to the community, Anand outlined his immediate plans for the platform. Key updates promised within the next 60 days include enhancements to model memory, better character organisation tools, improved content filtering, advanced search features and greater transparency during character creation.
The company also aims to empower creators with richer tools to build immersive and expressive characters, including interactive audio and video capabilities.
“These aren’t distant promises,” Anand emphasised in his message. “I’m committing to launch all of that this summer. We’re going to move fast and make Character.AI more immersive and more fun,” he added.
