Infosys Doubles Down on Fresh Talent with 20,000 Graduate Hires in 2025

Infosys CEO Salil Parekh announced the company will hire 20,000 new graduates this year, defying the IT sector's trend of layoffs.

New Delhi: Infosys is going against the grain by employing 20,000 recent graduates this year, while some IT majors are cutting back on their workforces, according to CEO Salil Parekh.

At a time when TCS has cut off about 12,000 workers and Nasscom warns of further sector-wide reduction, the move comes after the business hired 17,000 people in Q1.

According to Parekh, Infosys is stepping up its efforts to transform itself using AI, including creating AI agents and internal language models. He pointed out that this change has already increased software engineering productivity by 5–15% and increased customer service and knowledge work efficiency even further.

However, he emphasised that tech alone isn’t enough. “Human oversight is crucial, especially in complex systems,” he said, citing a 20% productivity lift in Infosys’ banking platform Finacle, driven by human-AI collaboration.

Regarding the appraisal cycle, Parekh verified that the most recent performance reviews are finished and the upcoming round will be evaluated normally.

Infosys is relying on talent, not cutting, to stay ahead of the competition by emphasising AI, automation and upskilling.
