New Delhi: Honeywell has partnered with computer vision firm Stereolabs to introduce a mobile solution designed to automate the measurement of packages in warehouses and distribution centers. The system integrates Honeywell’s SwiftDecoder barcode scanning software with Stereolabs’ ZED stereoscopic camera to capture dimensions, weight, and text-based information in a single scan.
Currently, many logistics providers rely on manual methods, such as tape measures and weighing scales or fixed scan tunnels for data collection, which can hinder operational efficiency. The new handheld solution aims to address this by providing a portable and automated method to collect key shipment data.
The ZED camera captures three-dimensional product data, while SwiftDecoder extracts barcode and optical character recognition (OCR) information, including labels, expiration dates, and product names. This data is automatically uploaded to a centralized system and can integrate with warehouse management platforms, enabling more informed decisions around trailer loading, vehicle allocation, and inventory tracking.
David Barker, President of Honeywell Productivity Solutions and Services, noted that warehouses often face challenges in unifying and utilizing product data efficiently. The collaboration seeks to reduce manual workloads and improve real-time visibility across the supply chain.
Olivier Braun, Chief Product Officer at Stereolabs, said the system is designed for easy integration, offering a combined data capture approach suited to dynamic warehouse environments.
This partnership reflects a growing trend toward adopting AI-driven tools in logistics to meet increasing demands for speed, accuracy, and cost efficiency in distribution processes.
