New Delhi: Bigbasket, part of Tata Digital, has scaled up its electric vehicle (EV) delivery operations to 50 cities across India, as it moves to decarbonise its supply chain and improve operational efficiency.
The company has partnered with EV infrastructure startup Kazam to support the rollout. The collaboration includes the deployment of over 4,000 charging points across 773 locations, along with fleet management tools to monitor driver performance, manage energy use, and optimise delivery routes. The infrastructure also includes 24/7 surveillance, LEVAC compliance, and built-in zero-downtime protocols.
As of now, Bigbasket has facilitated more than 64 million kilometres of EV deliveries and recorded over 3.2 GWh of clean energy usage. The company aims to transition 60% of its delivery fleet to electric vehicles by 2030.
The initiative reflects a wider shift across India’s logistics sector, which is facing growing pressure to reduce emissions and adopt sustainable delivery models. Real-time analytics and interoperable systems are playing a critical role in enabling this transition.
Kazam Co-founder Akshay Shekhar noted that the partnership demonstrates the viability of green logistics when supported by intelligent infrastructure rather than regulatory compulsion.
Bigbasket’s approach indicates a longer-term strategy focused on both environmental and cost efficiency, aligning with national goals for cleaner urban transport and energy use in commercial operations.
The shift underscores a broader trend where logistics firms are investing in infrastructure-led EV adoption to meet evolving climate and business imperatives.
