Noida: Noida International Airport (NIA) has entered into a strategic partnership with ride-hailing platform Rapido to provide 24×7 app-based cab services, aimed at enhancing last-mile connectivity for air travellers. The initiative forms part of NIA’s broader strategy to establish itself as a multimodal transport hub for the Delhi-NCR and Western Uttar Pradesh region.
Under the agreement, Rapido will operate dedicated pick-up zones within the airport premises, supported by on-ground personnel, designated parking areas for driver-partners, and clear wayfinding signage. The service will offer passengers multiple ride options, real-time vehicle tracking, and cashless payment modes.
The partnership also includes integrated safety features such as in-app SOS alerts and access to verified driver details to improve user confidence. Christoph Schnellmann, CEO of NIA, noted that seamless ground connectivity is essential to the overall passenger experience as the airport prepares to commence operations.
Rapido’s SaaS-based model will reportedly allow for competitive pricing while supporting improved earnings for its driver-partners. This structure aims to balance affordability for passengers with sustainability for service providers, an ongoing challenge in urban transit ecosystems.
The Noida International Airport project is being developed by Yamuna International Airport Private Limited (YIAPL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Zurich Airport International AG. In its first phase, the airport is expected to handle up to 12 million passengers annually. The Rapido partnership forms part of the airport’s pre-operational mobility planning to ensure readiness upon launch.
