New Delhi: Google India has launched a special Elder Care Program for its staff in response to India’s changing demographics and the rising demand for elder care assistance.
Shraddhanjali Rao, Head of HR at Google India, announced the project on LinkedIn, highlighting the individual and group struggles workers encounter when juggling their jobs with caregiving obligations.
The program’s three main pillars are intended to provide employees with peace of mind by guaranteeing their loved ones receive support:
- Emotional Wellbeing: Combating loneliness through personalised assistance, online engagement, support groups and regular check-in calls.
- Physical Wellbeing: Offering full-body checkups, doctor tele-consultations, quarterly home visits and access to vetted home care professionals.
- Safety Support: Ensuring round-the-clock emergency coordination, 24/7 doctor-on-call access, ambulance services and virtual elder care consultations for home safety.
“The Google Elder Care Program reinforces our commitment to fostering a supportive and empathetic culture that truly understands and responds to the multifaceted lives of our employees,” said Rao.
She concluded with a message of deep respect: “To those who now steady the hands that once guided them — the resilience, patience, and incredible strength you bring to your families every single day is an inspiration.”
