New Delhi: Grammarly has launched eight specialized AI agents within its Docs workspace, marking its shift from a grammar-checking tool to a broader AI-driven productivity platform. The development comes at a time when competition in AI-assisted writing is intensifying, with players like Microsoft Copilot, Jasper, and ChatGPT expanding their presence.
The new agents are designed to assist across different stages of the writing process. Key tools include an AI Proofreader that improves clarity and readability, a Plagiarism Checker that scans large academic and professional databases, and a Citation Finder that locates credible sources and formats them. Additional features such as a Paraphraser for tone and style adjustment, an AI Detector for checking content authenticity, and an AI Grader that provides rubric-based feedback are aimed at academic and professional users.
Several agents, including Expert Review for domain-specific feedback and Reader Reaction Predictor for audience interpretation, are tailored to students, educators, and researchers, suggesting Grammarly’s intent to expand its reach beyond casual writing support. Unlike general chatbots, Grammarly’s approach allows users to activate individual agents as needed, offering task-specific assistance while keeping control of the writing process in the hands of the user.
The rollout highlights Grammarly’s attempt to evolve into a centralized platform for writing and productivity. By integrating academic, professional, and creative support tools into a single workspace, the company is positioning itself as a structured alternative in the AI writing ecosystem.
