Google Brings AI-powered Search Mode to Hindi and Four Other Languages

New Delhi: Google has expanded its AI-powered Search Mode to five additional languages, including Hindi, as part of its effort to make digital search more accessible across non-English speaking regions. The feature, first introduced in March 2025 as an experimental tool, is now available in Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, and Brazilian Portuguese. The expansion comes amid growing competition in AI-driven search, with platforms such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT Search and Perplexity AI emerging as alternatives.

The company stated that its Gemini 2.5 AI model powers the rollout, offering more than direct translations by providing context-sensitive results that adapt to cultural nuances and local usage. Google emphasized that ensuring relevance and accuracy in regional languages is key to making AI search tools effective for diverse audiences. By doing so, the company seeks to address increasing user demand in markets like India, Indonesia, and South Korea, where technology adoption depends heavily on localized content and language support.

The introduction of AI-powered search in Hindi is particularly significant for India, one of the world’s largest internet markets with a multilingual base of users. Analysts note that this step may allow Google to maintain its strong position in search by offering localized, intelligent results tailored to individual needs. The expansion highlights how global technology firms are adapting AI applications to regional contexts in order to expand their reach. While still in early stages, Google’s move signals an acceleration in the race to make AI search more inclusive and widely adopted.
