New Delhi: Figma will introduce local data hosting for Indian customers in the first quarter of 2026, responding to rising demand for stricter data governance among large enterprises and regulated sectors. The move follows the company’s Bengaluru office launch in November and reflects India’s position as Figma’s second-largest active user base globally.
The localisation capability will allow organisations to store file data from FigJam, Make, Sites, Buzz, Slides and other Figma tools within India. Enterprises in public services, healthcare and financial services sectors with heightened compliance requirements are expected to benefit from improved control over data storage. Freecharge by Axis Bank and IDFC First Bank will participate in the initial trial phase.
Figma has also introduced Governance+ in India, a suite of enhanced governance and security features designed to support enterprise compliance needs. The offering includes centralised data oversight, expanded access controls and strengthened account security. These additions build on Figma’s existing features such as activity logs, SSO support, seat provisioning via the SCIM API, and restrictions on external collaborators.
The updates indicate a broader shift among global software providers adapting to India’s evolving data protection expectations and the operational priorities of large domestic enterprises.
