TCS Acquires US-based Salesforce Firm Coastal Cloud in $700 Million Cash Deal

New Delhi: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has acquired US-based Salesforce consulting firm Coastal Cloud for $700 million in an all-cash transaction, reinforcing its push to expand high-margin digital and cloud-led services.

Founded in 2012, Coastal Cloud is a Salesforce Summit Partner with a focus on large-scale, multi-cloud Salesforce implementations. The company advises enterprises on sales, service, marketing, commerce, revenue management, and data platforms, primarily supporting customer experience and operational modernisation initiatives. The acquisition adds over 400 Salesforce specialists to TCS, along with more than 3,000 Salesforce-related certifications.

The deal comes as global IT services firms seek to deepen platform-specific consulting capabilities amid rising enterprise adoption of AI-enabled CRM and data analytics tools. Coastal Cloud’s advisory-led model and experience in AI-driven Salesforce deployments are expected to strengthen TCS’s consulting depth across key sectors including retail, manufacturing, healthcare, and financial services.

TCS has steadily expanded its Salesforce practice through targeted acquisitions, including ListEngage, as it looks to scale advisory services for both large enterprises and mid-market clients. Coastal Cloud’s established presence in the US market and its role within Salesforce’s partner ecosystem are likely to improve TCS’s access to new customers while supporting cross-selling opportunities across its broader digital services portfolio.

The acquisition aligns with TCS’s broader strategy to shift towards platform-centric, AI-led technology services as traditional IT outsourcing faces pricing pressure and slower growth in key markets.
