Airtel to invest $1bn in Nxtra data center

New Delhi: Bharti Airtel is investing $1bn in its data center business Nxtra Data to expand its network across India.

Alpha Wave Global will invest $435 mn, Carlyle Group $240mn, Anchorage Capital another $35mn with the rest to be infused by Airtel.

This will enable Airtel to retain a controlling stake in Nxtra. Buoyed by the fund infusion, Nxtra wants to scale its infrastructure and broaden its services portfolio.

Currently Nxtra operates 14 large core data centers and 120+ edge facilities across India. Its current offerings include co-lo, cloud infrastructure, managed hosting, data backup, DR and edge computing services.

Nxtra has a state-of-the-art facility in Pune and currently developing additional AI-ready campuses in Chennai, Mumbai and Kolkata.
