Mumbai, Apr 30, (CXO Media): Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has collaborated with Amazon to launch a community solar energy project in Powai, Mumbai.
Nirmiti Foundation as the NGO partner and Green India Initiative (GIIPL) as the technology partner were also involved.
The project includes 50 solar-powered streetlights across three underserved communities in Powai, namely Bhangshil Gav, Ultanpada and Indiranagar.
This will benefit 1200 community members across these areas.
It also included on-grid solar panels in 17 municipal schools that will benefit over 5000 students, teachers and residents.
The project reduces the carbon footprints of these schools and also servrs as an example of sustainable practices for the next generation.
