Blue Tokai Appoints AI Chatbot as Chief Listening Officer to Track Employee Sentiment

New Delhi: Coffee chain Blue Tokai has appointed an AI chatbot, Nikki, as its chief listening officer to improve employee engagement and workplace culture. Developed by HR tech startup Umwelt.AI, the chatbot will analyze workforce sentiment and provide data-driven insights to the company’s human resources team.

AI in Workforce Management

Nikki is designed to collect real-time feedback from employees and track workplace concerns through analytics. The chatbot aims to help Blue Tokai’s HR team address issues promptly, improve employee satisfaction, and reduce attrition. The company believes that using AI-driven tools will create a more responsive work environment.

Blue Tokai’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Sujit Bose, said the chatbot would enable a proactive approach to employee engagement. “Partnering with Umwelt.AI allows us to enhance employee experience using technology. This aligns with our goal of fostering a workplace that prioritizes growth, inclusivity, and well-being,” he said.

Tech Startup’s Growing Role in HR Solutions

Umwelt. AI, which developed Nikki, focuses on AI-powered HR solutions. The startup raised $125,000 in a seed funding round last year led by SaaS accelerator Upekkha. Founder and CEO Vishal Chopra said the chatbot uses sentiment analysis to help companies understand employee concerns and make informed HR decisions.

“With AI-driven sentiment analysis, organizations can gain deeper insights, address workforce challenges, and create a more supportive work environment,” Chopra said.

Blue Tokai’s Expansion Plans

The introduction of AI in workforce management follows Blue Tokai’s recent funding round, in which it secured $35 million from Verlinvest, Anicut Capital, and A91 Partners. The company plans to expand into major metro and Tier I and II cities, targeting over 350 new locations in the next three years. Blue Tokai’s adoption of AI tools like Nikki reflects a broader trend of businesses incorporating technology to improve workplace operations and employee retention.
