Disney Reimagines DEI: A Strategic Shift Toward Business Impact

Disney’s HR manager, Sonia Coleman, revealed in a memo that the firm is changing the name of its “Reimagine Tomorrow” campaign to “MyDisneyToday.”

The media behemoth Walt Disney is the most recent business to reevaluate its strategy in response to mounting legal and political opposition to DEI projects in the US. According to a memo obtained by Reuters, the decision aims to concentrate more intently on commercial objectives.
Disney’s HR manager, Sonia Coleman, revealed in a memo that the firm is changing the name of its “Reimagine Tomorrow” campaign to “MyDisneyToday.”

Disney eliminated references to its “Reimagine Tomorrow” program, an online platform for “amplifying underrepresented voices,” which highlighted some of the company’s diversity, equality, and inclusion pledges and initiatives, from its annual report, which was released in September 2024.

“We create entertainment that appeals to a global audience,” Coleman stated in her memo.

Disney’s action is consistent with a larger business trend. For example, “inclusion and diversity” was just taken out of Amazon’s most recent annual report. Following in Google’s footsteps, IT giant Accenture stated last week that it would discontinue its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs. This move represents a larger change in corporate practices to conform to recent executive orders issued by U.S. President Donald Trump.
