Mumbai: Lubrizol has announced the establishment of a Technology and Innovation Center in Maharashtra, marking a significant milestone in fostering India-based research and development. The new centre aims to drive innovations, enhance collaboration, and improve speed to market for Lubrizol and its customers in India and beyond.
A Hub for Collaboration and Advanced Research
The upcoming center will co-locate laboratory capabilities and expand upon Lubrizol’s existing in-region Technology Centers of Excellence (COE). It will feature a ‘Customer Experience Center’, enabling Lubrizol to develop customized solutions in partnership with its clients. Additionally, the facility will be equipped with advanced analytical capabilities, automation, and digital tools, allowing teams to integrate decision science into research and accelerate next-generation innovations.
According to Bhavana Bindra, Managing Director of Lubrizol India, Middle East, and Africa, the new center represents a significant investment in local innovation. She emphasized that by bringing together expertise from multiple Lubrizol businesses, the facility will serve as a cornerstone for collaboration, automation, and technological advancement across teams and industries.

The strategic location of the Technology and Innovation Center in Maharashtra will provide Lubrizol with proximity to key stakeholders, ensuring efficient collaboration and operational excellence. Dr. Rahul Misra, Senior Director of Technology for India, Middle East, and Africa, stated that the center will provide a highly collaborative working environment, allowing Lubrizol to leverage its legacy innovation processes alongside cutting-edge technology. He added that this would enable the company to take its quality innovation to the next level.
Lubrizol’s Longstanding Presence in India & Significance of New Centre
Lubrizol has been an active player in India’s research and development landscape for decades. The company played a key role in introducing CPVC piping to the Indian market 25 years ago, which has since facilitated access to clean drinking water across the country. Today, India is a global leader in CPVC technology.
