New Delhi: Dr Tooba Modassir has been appointed Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) for India and the Indian Subcontinent, which includes Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, according to Citi.
As the Banking HR Advisor (HRA) for this sub-cluster, Dr Modassir will also be in charge of managing the strategy and operations of human resources for a workforce of more than 34,000 workers.
Aditya Mittal, who departed from Citi after more than 30 years of illustrious service, is succeeded by Dr Modassir. She will carry on the region’s leadership heritage by reporting to Citi’s Asia South Cluster and Banking HR Head, Arun Mirchandani.
Commenting on the appointment, K Balasubramanian, CEO of Citi India and Banking Head for the Indian Subcontinent, said, “Tooba has consistently demonstrated the ability to build strong, engaged teams, while aligning HR strategy with business priorities. Her track record of driving transformative initiatives, combined with her passion for people development, will help us effectively leverage our promising and dynamic talent base in the region.”

Dr Modassir has more than 19 years of experience in performance management, learning and development, talent engagement, and human resources consulting. She joined Citi in 2008 and has held many important positions.
These include Head of Talent, Performance Management, Learning and Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) for the Bank and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), HR Business Partner for Retail and Institutional Banking in India, and, most recently, CHRO and Banking HRA for Citi Malaysia.
