New Delhi: AstraZeneca Pharma India has appointed Praveen Rao Akkinepally to be the new MD of the business. He will take over the position on July 1st and serve for three years.
With effect from 30 June at the latest, Akkinepally has taken over for Sanjeev Kumar Panchal, who resigned from his post. He will be relocating to a worldwide position with the AstraZeneca Group, which is headquartered in Gaithersburg, Maryland, in the US.
With more than 20 years of expertise in the US, international markets, and India, Akkinepally is a senior commercial leader with a focus on biopharmaceuticals and oncology. At AstraZeneca, he has spearheaded worldwide commercial strategies and multiple brand launches.
Prior to being appointed as the new MD, Akkinepally oversaw the cancer business unit head for India, which witnessed a number of successful oncology product launches and a notable increase in the company’s market position.
He began his career at AstraZeneca as a microbiologist and moved smoothly into commercial responsibilities, bringing with him more than 20 years of leadership expertise in both US and international roles. Throughout his career, he has held influential positions like Head of Marketing for US cancer companies, where he helped revolutionise clinical practice and patient impact.
