Infosys is now warning workers against working above their allotted hours, particularly when working remotely, after igniting controversy by claiming that a 70-hour workweek was essential for India’s development.
The business has started keeping track of how much time workers spend in the office on remote workdays. The action is intended to reduce burnout and encourage work-life balance.
Individual emails encouraging them to adhere as closely as possible to the assigned schedule have been sent to employees who routinely work longer hours when working from home.
According to a report by ET, an employee shared, “We must work for 9.15 hours a day for five days a week, and if we overshoot this while working remotely, it prompts a trigger.”
According to reports, the email helps employees better understand their time management practices by providing information on the number of remote workdays, total hours logged, and average daily hours. Particular attention was paid to those who went above the company’s usual threshold.
This action by Infosys is a reflection of corporate India’s growing realization that working longer hours does not always translate into greater results.
It is important to note that Infosys and Mental Health Foundation Australia (MHFA) have announced a strategic partnership to further raise awareness of mental health issues through the development of a mobile app named “Supportive Mind.”
