Commvault to Acquire Satori Cyber, Expands Focus on AI Data Security Oversight

CrowdStrike to Acquire Onum, Strengthen Falcon SIEM with Real-Time Data Intelligence

New Delhi: Data protection company Commvault has announced plans to acquire Satori Cyber Ltd, an Israel-based data and AI security firm, in a move aimed at expanding its capabilities in AI governance, structured data control, and compliance management across multi-cloud environments.

The deal, expected to close in August 2025, reflects growing industry demand for more robust mechanisms to monitor and secure AI training data and sensitive information stored across hybrid infrastructure.

The acquisition comes amid a rapid shift in enterprise priorities, driven by accelerated AI adoption, fragmented data ecosystems, and increasing regulatory scrutiny. As organizations rely more on large language models (LLMs) and multi-cloud environments, ensuring oversight of who accesses data and how it is used has become a critical governance issue.

According to Commvault, integrating Satori’s platform will allow enterprises to discover, classify, and control access to structured data and AI pipelines. These capabilities will complement Commvault’s existing tools for managing unstructured data. The deal also includes features like LLM monitoring, prompt protection, and real-time data access control without requiring agents.

Satori brings several technical advantages to the table, including cloud-native architecture and compatibility with data platforms like Snowflake, Redshift, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric. Its platform allows for data masking, policy enforcement, and classification across environments, capabilities seen as increasingly essential as enterprises move toward AI-led models.

Rajiv Kottomtharayil, Chief Product Officer at Commvault, said the deal supports efforts to enforce data access policies in distributed systems. Eldad Chai, CEO and Co-founder of Satori, noted the combined platform will focus on securing AI pipelines from discovery to recovery.
